Keeping Your Straightener in Good Condition
As any flat iron fan will tell you, heat styling tools (like ceramic flat irons) are the easiest way to straighten hair without chemicals. All I have to do is glide my GHD straightener through my naturally wavy (and, all too often, frizzy!) hair, and voila! Beautiful straight locks that look totally natural. I would be lost without my GHD straightener…and that’s why I took the time to figure out how to properly care for it in order to make sure it stays in good condition for years to come. Here are some hints:
- Allow your straightener to cool completely before putting it away. I like to rest mine on a heatproof rubber mat.
- Never wrap the cord around the flat iron - it will fray and eventually break.
- Store your straightener in a special pouch or carrying case to protect it from dust and dirt.
- If the plates have residue or product buildup on them, clean with a soft cloth or a special flat iron cleaner. Don’t submerge your flat iron in water for any reason!
I’ve found that these tips offer a good way to make sure you’re getting the most out of your straightener. Does anyone have any additional flat iron care tips to add? I would love to know if there’s anything I’m forgetting!
